A Nursery Rhyme for Mama
02:32
|
|||
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout
Pulled out his spyglass and sized his map
Then he spun a web for all the world to see
This way to Mama's Spider Hatchery

Toast the Flag
04:13
|
|||
We gonna rise up and take this town
Ain’t nobody gonna hold us down
We gonna rise up and take this town
Ain’t nobody gonna hold us down
Rode my mule to the liquor store
Bust my knuckles on the door
Rode my mule to the liquor store
Bought a case of Rebel and a .44
We gonna rise up…
Dug a hole out in the yard
With a pocket full of matches and a deck of cards
Dug a hole out in the yard
Toast the flag and drain the jar
We gonna rise up…
Sing of revolution and spit in the sea
Jettison the Captain it’s a mutiny
Sing of revolution and spit in the sea
Put bullets in your ears you won’t hear him scream
We gonna rise up…
Give me lye and I’ll make soap
We’ll scrub down the town with a length of rope
Give me lye and I’ll make soap
Give me a crowd I’ll manufacture hope
We gonna rise up…
The grass is thicker on the other hill
Three goats gruff can’t have their fill
The grass is thicker on the other hill
The troll underneath the bridge might be real
We gonna rise up…

You Can't Win a War
05:35
|
|||
We’re building a wall on the edge of town
From the time the whistle blows until the sun goes down
It keeps us out of trouble, It keeps our bodies sound
It keep the heretics and heathens from coming around.
The church of the sanctimonious and divine
Gives us bread and pays for our time
But for every dollar dues are a dime
And they’ll take every penny if we step out of line.
He without sin cast the first stone
You’re all a bunch of liars or I’m standing all alone
You can fight your righteous battles near and afar
But you can’t force change and you can’t win a war
We've got bookend traps on the Appian path
If you are not like us you will feel our wrath
If you walk within these walls be sure to carry your staff
There are a million crooked fingers pointing every stumble out
He without sin cast the first stone
You’re all a bunch of liars or I’m standing all alone
You can fight your righteous battles near and afar
But you can’t force change and you can’t win a war
We lost 10,000 men at Judas’ Ford
And 100,000 more in the denominational war
We change you or destroy you steal your children rob your stores
And we all weep and wonder what we’re really fighting for.
We tortured all the druggies burned their art and their guitars
Sent philosophers to sea with just their maps to the stars
Adulterers and sodomites castrated in their yards
And I can’t decide who to admire, who to abhor
He without sin cast the first stone
You’re all a bunch of liars or I’m standing all alone
You can fight your bloody battles near and afar
But you can’t force change and you can’t win a war
So we’re building this wall on the edge of town
Those of us not rotting in the ground
And we can’t be to hasty to keep us safe and sound
So all third offense truants will hereby be drowned
As judgment day morning shirks its damp gray shawl
All of us truants marched up to the wall
We stare at our lives work in awe
And declare that it's time for the wall to fall
But he without sin cast the first stone
You’re all a bunch of liars or I’m standing all alone
You can fight your righteous battles near and afar
But you can’t force change and you can’t win a war

Black Widow Blues
03:22
|
|||
You're a black widow spider
I strum my web for you
You're a black widow spider
I strum my web for you
You can have me baby
And kill me when you're through
You ain't always right
But you ain't ever wrong
You ain't always right
But you ain't ever wrong
And I'm always hanging around
Where I don't belong
I see you coming with
Your red heels on
I'll take your tie line
You can drag me along
Logic tells me that
I must be insane
But nature tells me
Not to listen to my brain
I'm caught up in your web baby
And I can't get loose
I'm caught up in your web baby
And I can't get loose
But you can have me baby
And kill me when you're through

Flies
04:51
|
|||
Flies
Clinging to the wall
So big yet so small
Lies
Echoes down the hall
So big yet so small
I should pull the shades
There's nothing here to see
I should lock the door
There's no one here but me
Books
Scattered on the floor
Who knows what they're for
Rooks
Cawing by the shore
Who knows what they're for
I should pull the shades
There's nothing here to see
I should lock the door
There's no one here but me
A pen
Lying on a desk
You can guess the rest
Sin
Sometimes we transgress
You can guess the rest

The Bear
04:32
|
|||
The path grew tangled
With webs and briars
Where the bear stood
Against the father's pride
Unsure of himself
And the lay of the land
He took his leave
And set up camp
You can dig a hole and call it home
Or face the bear alone
Content was the father
But restless the son
As the bear loomed larger
With each turn of the tongue
The crack grew wider
With each turn of the screw
And tempers flared
With the swell of the moon
You can dig a hole and call it home
Or face the bear alone
No words spent on parting
He followed no tracks
He cut his own path
With his father's ax
Driven by purpose
Skewed by angst blinding glare
In search of Canaan
Or in search of the bear
You can dig a hole and call it home
Or face the bear alone

Emperor Norton sat on his throne
Of rot and generic dreams
Ears were tortured within range
Of his narcissistic screams
“How dare you come and take my bride?
How could she do this to me?
I'll crush you both in days to come
You'll be as miserable as me”
And all the little spiders
Spin webs around his brain
His grandiose delusions
Are all that keep him sane
A Lazarus did the Emperor make
And filled the chalice of a few
But even they soon grew tired
Of his soulless candy coated spew
He could see her with the Spider Lord
Caught in his web, damp with dew
But she looked as if set free
And she wore a smile he never knew
And all the little spiders
Spin webs around his brain
His grandiose delusions
Are all that keep him sane
The Lord of the Spiders walked
The hillside with his maiden fair
To meet Norton in the town
And parlay in the thoroughfare
But the Emperor sprang from his perch
And waved his sword in the air
“Come and kill me if you will
Let them see a victim of despair”
Our hero gained the upper hand
And the Emperor fell to his knees
But the Lord of the Spiders spoke
And stifled his pathetic pleas
“You won't have me to blame for this
Pull yourself up to your feet
Can't you see why you can't win
Your contempt is your disease”
And all the little spiders
Spin webs around his brain
His grandiose delusions
Are all that keep him sane

In the shade or in the sun
In the field in the mud
My blood is with the seed
And you're gonna do right by me
My worth ain't in grain
It's in the sweat, it's in the pain
It's in the mouths I have to feed
And you're gonna do right by me
That plow ain't a man
It don't have dreams, it don't have hands
It can dig but it can't lead
And you're gonna do right by me
Hit a stone, throw it aside
Haul them off when the load is light
You might stack yours beneath the trees
But you're gonna do right by me

I got a little bit of something waiting back home for you girl
You know your always talking, you know your always talking
I got a little bit of something waiting back home for you girl
And I’m gonna give it to you right in the face
I’m gonna give it to you right in the face
I’m gonna give it to you, I’m gonna give it to you, I’m gonna give it to you
Honey Hush
You told all your friends about the things that should stay between the sheets
I know you think you’re bragging, I know you think you’re bragging
You told all your friends about the things that should stay between the sheets
So I’m gonna give it to you right in the face
I’m gonna give it to you right in the face
I’m gonna give it to you, I’m gonna give it to you, I’m gonna give it to you
Honey Hush
You talk about my money and you talk about my job
You talk about my daddy and you talk about my mom
You talk about my body and you talk about my brain
You talk about my ex and she used to do the same
You talk about my house and you talk about my car
You talk about the time I spend out at the bar
You talk to all the girls about the way I put you down
You talk to all the boys and you say I ain’t around
You talk about my fingers and you talk about my feet
You talk about my palms and how much I like to beat it
You talk about my tongue and you talk about my dick
But if it will shut your mouth I got a place I can stick it
Honey Hush
I got a little bit of something waiting back home for you girl
You know I know you want it, You know I know you want it
I got a little bit of something waiting back home for you girl
You know I know you want it, You know I know you want it
And I’m gonna give it to you right in the face
I’m gonna give it to you right in the face
I’m gonna give it to you, I’m gonna give it to you, I’m gonna give it to you

I will not turn down my guitar
I will not turn down my guitar
I don’t give a damn who you are
I will not turn down my guitar
I will not be your whipping boy
I will not cart around your toys
I will not listen to your stories
I will not turn down my guitar
I will not hurry to the bar
I will not stop to clean the floor
I will not roar to stop the clock
I will not turn down my guitar
Take it down a notch
Take it down a notch….
Go fuck yourself.
I don’t give a damn who you are
I will not heed your advice
I will not rise when you scream
I will not turn down my guitar
I will not kiss ass for a job
I will not smile while being robbed
I will not learn more cover songs
I will not turn down my guitar
I will not turn down my guitar
I will not turn down my guitar
I don’t give a damn who you are
I will not turn down my guitar
I will not turn down my guitar
